The series premiered in
1936.
The anthropomorphic dog Goofy comes
from the mouse universe, and he is a close friend
of Mickey Mouse. Goofy is not
reminiscent of any known breed of dogs, and his
long, seemingly loose-jointed limbs make him
resemble a stick figure. Goofy's role in the
series is most often to accompany Mickey on
mysterious and dangerous adventures - and to
bungle up things due to his general lack of
common sense.
In some stories Goofy has a secret identity, in
which he via eating special peanuts becomes Super
Goof. As this alter ego he acquires the
traditional superpowers such as being able to fly
and look through walls.
The stories were/are written by an
overwhelming number of artists. Examples: Floyd
Gottfredson (1905-1986), Carl Robert Fallberg (1915-1996),
Del G. Connell (1918-2011), Victor 'Vic' Lockman
(1927-), Werner Wejp-Olsen (1938-), Josep Tello 'Tello'
Gonzalez (1940-).
