Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1947. Stopped in 1959 after 67 issues.

The series contains independent, semi-realistic stories on how the American police forces operate.

The series is a spinoff from a radio series that ran from 1936 to 1957 (it premiered in 1935 titled G-Men, though).
