The series premiered in 1969.

The character of Ziggy is a dwarflike, plump person lacking hair, neck, trousers, and shoes. His head is enormous and his nose is huge. He has no friends, no girlfriends, and no hobbies (but he keeps a menagerie of pet animals). He waddles through his surreal life with remarks on the events (or the events have remarks for him!). Ziggy is odd but right on the money.
