Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

Comments: The corporation's logo changed several times over the years. The selected one ran from 1976 to 2005.

 

 

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1941. Stopped in 1986 after 322 issues.

The series contains a cavalcade of diverse, independent superhero stories starring a multitude of characters with Batman, Robin, and Superman as the recurring ones.

Issue #1 was titled World's Best Comics, but from #2 on the title was changed.
