MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1977. Stopped in 1984 after 33 issues.

The starring character is a lovable anthropomorphic bear, who lives a quiet life eating honey in the Hundred Acre Wood. Although being rather dimwitted he also has a strange philosophic streak that usually puzzles his many friends, some of which are Eeyore, Kanga, Piglet, Roo, Tigger, and the human boy Christopher Robin.

The series is loosely based on a popular 1926 children's book by British author A.A. Milne. He named his title character after a black bear Winnie (short for Winnipeg) that was used as a military mascot during World War I, and after a swan called Pooh.
