MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1977. Stopped in 1979 after 19 issues.

The action stories from the Old West portray two good friends; the Mescalero-Apache chief Winnetou and the German immigrant known as Old Shatterhand. They are blood brothers and travel on many perilous adventures trying to help the innocent and punish the guilty.

The series as such is loosely built on the German author Karl May's immensely popular Western novels from the 1890s.
