This is the story about an elderly couple, Hilda and Jim Bloggs, living their uneventful lives in the English countryside. Nothing can stir them up, not even the fact that a nuclear war is announced. Their preparations to survive are futile such as painting the windows white to avoid the radiation, and when the blast hits the naive couple, they hardly even register the mortal seriousness. They still try to go about their daily business.
