The series premiered in 1953,
but the main character debuted in 1947.
Disney created two major
funny animal universes of great significance -
the duck universe and the mouse universe. They
both appear in several types of media.
A primary character of the duck universe is
Scrooge McDuck (AKA Uncle Scrooge) who lives in
Duckburg and is surrounded by family members and
a wide cast of secondary characters. The stories
are not restricted to taking place in Duckburg;
in fact, Scrooge often travels all over the globe.
The stories were/are written by an
overwhelming number of artists. Examples: Carl
Barks (1901-2000), Romano Scarpa (1927-2005),
Rodolfo Cimino (1927-), Luciano Bottaro (1931-2006),
Vicar (1934-2012), Paul Halas (1949-).
