MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1953*. Stopped in 1977 after 126 issues, but the series has been revived a few shortlived times since then.

The title character started out as Clay Harder, but in this series he was first identified as Matthew J. Hawkins (called Matt Hawk) in #60. He is a lawyer who introduces his secret identity in order to fight crime in the Old West.

* This is the third series. The first ones were published in 1948 and 1950 (both containing 10 issues). This third series takes up the numbering at #11.
