MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1954. Stopped in 1962 after 34 issues.

The two title characters are Tweety the canary (sometimes named Tweety Bird or Tweety Pie) and Sylvester the cat, and all the stories focus on Sylvester's neverending attempts to catch the highly elusive Tweety for dinner. All attempts are completely futile, because the cat is outsmarted by the bird - or he outsmarts himself.

The series is based on an animated short cartoon series that ran regularly from 1942 to 1964, but it is still sporadically published.
