MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 2004*. Ongoing.

The series takes place during the 1950s, when outdated American so-called Liberty Ships from the Second World War served as merchant vessels under diverse flags on the seven seas. The stories follow the young French captain Yann Calec's adventurous journeys on his ship Belle Hélène.

The series' title is short for the nautical expression Tramp Steamer, which refers to merchant ships that sail on irregular schedules accepting diverse cargo.
