MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1918. Stopped in 1956.

In the beginning the lively character of Toots - based on Murphy's own wife Mathilda Catherine - was in focus with the responsible Casper in the background (he was drawn somewhat taller then), but soon the two became a 'standard' American family with everyday problems and joys. During the series the couple had a child nicknamed Buttercup.
