The series premiered in
1955. Stopped in 1959.
The starring character of Tonto is a
spinoff from The Lone Ranger, in which
Tonto accompanies the masked John Reid on his
adventures. At first, Tonto actually saved Reid
from death after he, as a Texas Ranger, had
fallen into an ambush. In this series Tonto is on
his own helping red Indians and fighting white
villains.
Initially, the character of Tonto
began in a radio broadcast show from 1938 to 1951.
The full title of the comic book series is The
Lone Ranger's Companion Tonto.
