MAIN STORY |
The
series premiered in 1929. Stopped officially in 1976, but
in 1986 a final album emerged posthumously. The main character of Tintin is a Belgian journalist who spends most of his time on adventurous and dangerous journeys trying to bring criminal elements to justice. He is usually accompanied by his dog Milou and the former sea captain Haddock. Most of Tintin's friends are well-meaning but fairly inept in different stages; Haddock is a jolly drinker but bad-tempered, Professor Tournesol is inventive but hard at hearing, and the twinlike detectives Dupond and Dupont act as clowns. Hergé developed his series as he went along; in the beginning he would not always know how the stories ended as he started to write them, then he began meticulous research of the locales and objects to be used, and finally he mastered all the elements of his stories (script, graphics, characters, colours) in an unparalleled way. |
