The seemingly lazy high school student Hajime Kindaichi is in fact deeply involved in solving the hardest and most puzzling crime cases, and, being the grandson of Japan's most famous detective, his investigations are always fruitful. He is often accompanied by a childhood friend, Miyuki Nanase, on his sleuthing adventures, and he regularly receives help from the police in the shape of inspector Isamu Kenmochi and superintendent Kengo Akechi.
