The series premiered in 1933. Stopped in 1959 after 1197 issues, but continued titled The New Hotspur* until 1981 (additional 1110 issues), when it merged with The Victor.

This is a boys' magazine featuring genres such as action, adventure, sports, war, and Westerns.

* The series retitled to The Hotspur from #174.
