Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1959*. Stopped in 1985 after 246 issues.

The starring character is Jay Garrick, who has several superhero abilities foremost being able to obtain superspeed (his nickname is Scarlet Speedster). Also, he has superhuman reflexes and the ability to defy certain laws of physics. The Flash is also a member of Justice League and Justice Society.
