Comments: * Initially, the series was titled The Katzenjammer Kids, but due to a legal dispute with his publisher, Dirks was forced to change the title. He started working for another publisher with the series under the title The Captain and the Kids and with the same character gallery.

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1914. Stopped in 1979.

The strip was inspired by the German author Wilhelm Busch's story Max und Moritz, and it focuses on two young twins, Hans and Fritz, who are unscrupulously mischievous and highly destructive. Their parents (who have no names) are mentioned as Mama and Captain, and a school representative (also nameless) titled Inspector complete the primary character gallery. All the adults are targets for the kids' highly strung mentalities.

The series was initially titled Hans und Fritz.
