MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1963. Stopped in 1996 after 402 issues, but has been revived numerous times since then sometimes under other titles such as Avengers, Dark Avengers, The Mighty Avengers, The New Avengers, and The West Coast Avengers.

The series features a team of highly skilled and very diverse action characters such as superheroes, humans, mutants, robots, and aliens. The characters come and go, but among the first were Ant-man, Captain America, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, The Mighty Thor, and Wasp.

The series must not be confused with the British series featuring The Avengers in Steed and Mrs Peel.
