Name: DC (American comics corporation).
Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

Comments: The corporation's logo changed several times over the years. The selected one ran from 1976 to 2005.

 

 

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1999. Stopped in 2002 after 29 issues, but had a long line of follow-up series in the next years.

The Authority is a team of superheroes, who take on the most difficult jobs and get them done using an array of skills. The many team members are divided into specialized cells, and new ones are recruited on a regular basis, while current ones stop. Some of the members of Stormwatch are active in The Authority.

* The series had a shortlived forerunner from 1982 to 1983 (5 issues).
