The series is based on a real person
by the name of Woodward Maurice 'Tex' Ritter, who was a
performer in film, television, and song. The
comic series focuses on his adventures as a
righteous and brave sheriff in the Old West.
The series is a spinoff from Ritter's films (1936-1973).
