The series premiered in
1977.
The title character is a
distinguished, mustached British gentleman, who
spends his time solving intriguing and mystifying
criminal cases around 1950. At his side he
usually has Olivia Sturgess, an author who is
supposed to have also written the series!
In dialogue or graphics the creators sometimes
include real and fictional characters known from
the detective theater, which can be perceived as
an added element of atmosphere.
