The series premiered in
1951. Stopped in 1958.
The primary character,
Sergeant William Preston, is a so-called Mountie
working for the North-West Mounted Police. He
fights and catches villains in his vast territory,
and to that end he has his dog, Yukon King, as
his aid. It has never been established if the dog
is a Malamute or a Huskie, because both breeds
have been mentioned over the years.
Initially, the series began as a
radio broadcast show from 1938 to 1951. The full
title of the comic book series is Sergeant
Preston of the Yukon.
