MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1961. Stopped in 1963.

This is a 'behind the scenes' comic strip meaning that the main character of Sam sometimes interacts with both the cartoonist and the readers. Furthermore, characters from other series pay visits to Sam who also has a closet full of visual effects. The most frequently recurring guest star was Happy Hooligan.

The series came to an untimely halt because the readers found it too intellectual, but the character of Sam was later revived in another series titled Sam and Silo.
