Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1997. Stopped in 1999 after 28 issues, but a second run was published from 2011 to 2012 (additional 13 issues).

The title character - with the alter ego of Mitchell Shelley - is a superhero with unusual characteristics; he does not wear a costume, he has access to numerous types of superpowers but only one at a time, and he can die. Immediately after his death he resurrects and gains another superpower that lasts until he dies the next time.
