MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1960*. Stopped in 1979 after 135 issues.

The title character is Johnny Bart (born Johnny Clay), who took his nickname from his livingplace Rawhide in Texas. After having been orphaned, Bart lives with his uncle Ben in the Old West, but when Ben is killed by gunmen, Bart enbarks on a long career as a righteous and tireless gunman.
