MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1943. Stopped following the creator's death.

The scene may be one of the most unlikely places for a comic - the infested and dangerous Okefenokee Swamp in Florida. Kelly drew the witty and intellectual strip in which the many characters comment on life in its many facets with clear references to our real lives. Although popular in the USA, it never gained popularity abroad mostly due to its many in-jokes and play on words.

The series was originally titled Albert the Alligator and later Albert Alligator and Pogo Possum, before its most well-known title of Pogo was launched.
