MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1950. Stopped in 2000.

The overall story takes place in a children's universe where adults are never present. However, the issues are often adult, social, and ponderous. The universe is populated by distinct looking characters which is quite an accomplishment in itself, because Schulz' drawings are extremely simple with no unnecessary pen strokes.
The most used characters are Charlie Brown, the eternally unlucky and insecure boy, and Snoopy, a Beagle who is Charlie's antithesis in many ways.

Schulz originally titled his series Li'l Folks, but the syndicate changed it to Peanuts - a name Schulz disliked.
