The series premiered in 1977. Stopped in 2003.

The series takes place in orphanages in Spain during General Franco's fascist reign. The children are plentiful, but Giménez (the creator himself) is the most recurring one. The reader gets a scary - and utterly touching - insight into the appalling conditions of a boys' orphanage from the time.
The series' title derives from the name of one of these social aid homes, Paracuellos del Jarama.
