Mary Perkins is a starry-eyed Midwestern girl, who travels to New York City in order to start a glamorous career as an actress on Broadway. Later, as a star, Perkins works in Hollywood and at international locations, which become stages for fast-paced adventures.

The series was later titled Mary Perkins, On Stage.
