The series premiered in
1940. Stopped in 1958.
In several countries there
are supposed to live a group of folkloristic and
naive people that is said to be more stupid than
the nation's other inhabitants. In fact, they are
the center of mockery although they really do not
exist as simpletons. In Denmark they are called
Molboer, and they come from a specific spot at
the eastern side of the peninsula of Jutland.
Many tales have been told about these Molboers
and most of them are known across the country and
considered good, clean fun.
The gallery examples are all from
Hansen's first book, in which he drew the old,
wellknown stories, in which the characters
changed all the time. In later editions Hansen
wrote new material incorporating recurring
characters such as Claus, Jeppe, Jochum, Jonas,
and Rasmus.
