Name: DC (American comics corporation).
Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

Comments: The corporation's logo changed several times over the years. The selected one ran from 1976 to 2005.

 

 

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1971. Stopped in 1978 after 25 issues, but the series has been revived twice since then.

The title character is Scott Free, who initially is an alien escapee from the totalitarian planet Apokolips. After having fled to Earth he becomes an escape artist at a circus, where he befriends Thaddeus Brown who stars under the name of Mister Miracle. When Brown is murdered Free takes over this identity.
Free has all the standard superhuman powers as well as diverse special equipment such as a cube that provides him with transmutation power.
