MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1963. Stopped in 1970 after 41 issues, but the series has been revived several times since then.

A scientist named William Magnus has created 6 robots that he gave 'life' and personality via his invention, the responsometer. They are all made from different metals, and their individual skills reflect this in some ways: Tin is insecure, Mercury can melt, Gold is the leader, Platinum (a female) is bright, Lead is slow-witted, and Iron is strong. Together they form a group that battles villainous robots.
