MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1955 (Kurtzman contributed from the beginning to 1958, and then again from 1984 to 1989).

Kurtzman's main contribution to Mad - apart from being the first editor and writing much of the material - is gag front covers that would, in some issues, include border drawings and tiny drawings inside the Mad logo.
