Le Génie des Alpages is an absurd and plotless series told in 2-pagers about an unruly flock of eccentric sheep led by the black ram Romuald grazing on the slopes of the Alps. They are looked after by an intellectual shepherd's dog simply called Le Chien (The Dog) and owned by a nameless, old shepherd (who is later replaced with the young shepherd Athanase Percevalve).

The French title means The Genius of the Mountain Pastures.
