This is the story of Jean Calard, who crashes in the African jungle with his airplane, and is rescued by a local tribe. They call him Kalar, their word for God. Kalar decides to stay in the area in order to guard visiting tourists, nature and the wildlife, all of which are often at peril from thoughtless or greedy white men.
