MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1932. Stopped in 1959.

The series is known as a British newspaper strip (you may take the term Strip in its dual meanings!), that became immensely popular. It started out as single cartoons under the title Jane's Journal, the Diary of a Bright Young Thing featuring the longlegged, beautiful Jane Gay (incidentally modelled after the artist's wife), but in 1938 Pett introduced his heroine in long stories concentrating on her helping the army catching German baddies.
The series topped the surveys in Britain especially during the war years, as the glamourous pinup Jane became an icon amongst the soldiers, and the shedding of more and more of her clothes may well have been a contributing factor! To further drum up interest several films were made.
The gallery examples are taken from the first episode, in which Jane was still dressed fairly decently, though...
