MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1968*. Stopped in 1996 after 332 issues, but has been revived numerous times since then.

The title character is Anthony Edward Stark, who was once severely injured by a booby trap that left shrapnel in his body. One piece close to his heart could not be removed thus forcing Stark to always wear a special magnetic chest plate to keep the shrapnel in check. When appearing as his alter ego Iron Man, Stark wears a special armour which endows him with a wide range of superpowers.

The full title of the series is The Invincible Iron Man.

* The character was first published in 1963 in Tales of Suspense #39, but the series on this page is the first with him in the title role.
