MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1894 on a sporadic basis, and became a regular series the year after. Stopped in 1898.

The series is normally considered the first comic series in the world which is debatable, because several newpapers already ran occasional cartoon strips, but Hogan's Alley was the first to gain immense popularity.
The actions take place in a large city alley, where all sorts of odd people tend to their different tasks and amusements. Before long one character by the name of Mickey Dugan stood out to such a degree that the series nowadays is often referred to as The Yellow Kid. It is a bald boy with protruding ears and a rather silly grin. He wears a yellow nightshirt, and in the beginning all his dialogue - which was heavily influenced by slang - was written on the front of the shirt.

The full title of the series was originally Down in Hogan's Alley.
