CREATOR

Name: DC (American comics corporation).
Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

Comments: The corporation's logo changed several times over the years. The selected one ran from 1976 to 2005.

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 2006*. Stopped in 2007 after 17 issues.

The series stars Kendra Saunders as the superhero named Hawkgirl. Her origin is not well known, but she is supposed to be of alien descent just as the title character in Hawkman, and the two are mostly perceived as a married couple. Hawgirl's primary skills are the ability to flight (via a special anti-gravity belt), great strength and healing, and enhanced vision.

* The first series was published from 1940 and features Shiera Sanders Hall as Hawkgirl. In later series the role is portrayed by Shayera Hol who is also known as Hawkwoman.
