Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1989*. Stopped in 1992 after 28 issues.

The series is set in Washington D.C., where two superheroes roam to protect the city. They are Hank Hall as Hawk and Dawn Granger as Dove. Their alter ego names mirror their general behaviour; Hawk is the more hot-headed and aggressive type, while Dove is the more thoughtful and defensive type.

* The first series was published from 1968 to 1969 (6 issues) and titled The Hawk and the Dove. In it Dove was portrayed by Hank's brother Don Hall, who later died.
