MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 2002*. Stopped in 2004 after 12 issues*.

In a futuristic world humanoid-shaped and manned robots with different abilities and strengths are aiding people by performing all sorts of massive jobs as well as fighting enemies. The robots' general name derives from the English word Gun and the last syllable in Freedom, but the name was later changed to Gundam.

* Initially, the concept premiered in Japan in 1979 as a TV show and has since been published as comic books in several series. The American one on this page bears the full title Gundam the Origin.
