The series premiered in 1971. Stopped in 1974.

The main character Grote Pyr* is a Norse Viking chief who manages all sorts of tedious, domestic affairs, but he also finds time to take to the high seas on perilous journeys. The series is heavily influenced by Astérix in both script and graphics.

* The name means Great Pyr in English and has historical roots in Friesland, where a man called Grutte Pier lived and became a legendary freedom fighter.
