MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1986*. Stopped in 1990 after 40 issues, but has since then been revived several times as single issues.

This superhero series stars Grendel, who is basically regarded as an evil-fighting spirit lodged in several different characters. In the series on this page he/she mostly has the alter egos of Christine Spar, Eppy Thatcher, Hunter Rose, and Orion Assante.
The character of Grendel derives from an ancient Anglo-Saxon saga of the hero Beowulf. In the saga Grendel was a monster that was slain by Beowulf.
