MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1940.

The superhero behind the alter ego of Green Lantern is former test pilot Alan Scott*, whose main superhero forces are his ability to fly and that he is without fear. In order to battle an array of colourful villains he has a special power ring - that regenerates via a green lantern - that will mostly do the trick. But it has a flaw; it is inefficient against wood (in later years it became inefficient against the colour yellow)!

* The name has, perplexingly, changed to Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, and more over time...
