The series premiered in 1956. Stopped in 1978 following Tillieux's untimely death.

The title character is a young and cool-headed French private detective, who solves any mystery and puzzle in brilliant ways. At his side he has André Papignolles AKA Libellule, a sidekick who is a former burglar and conman, and Jourdan is convinced that this know-how will - someday - be of help in his recurrent investigations.
