MAIN STORY

The series premiered in the Chigaco Tribune as part of a page called The Rectangle in 1918, then received its own space from 1919.

This is the continuing and apparently never-ending story of the Wallets. It started with Walt Wallet, a confirmed bachelor, with an interest in motor cars. He adopts a baby called Skeezix, and later he marries Phyllis. All along the series follows the family's daily life and an increasing gallery of family members and friends.

The series was the first in which the characters actually aged on a normal basis; they were born, matured, got drafted, married, had children, worked, grew old, died...
