Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1944. Stopped in 1954 after 79 issues.

The series consists of self-contained, independent funny animal stories with a long gallery of diverse characters. Examples are Arsenic the Giraffe, Blackie Bear, Dodo and the Frog, J. Rufus Lion, McSnurtle the Turtle, and The Three Mouseketeers.
