The series premiered in 1985. Stopped in 1987.

The series is a farcical rendering of a real, historic event namely the Norwegian Arctic explorer Fridtjof Nansen's unsuccessful attempt to reach the North Pole on his vessel Fram in 1893. The series describes how Fridtjof initially travels to raise funds among several famous persons such as Norwegian author Henrik Ibsen and Bavarian King Ludwig II, while Hjalmar stays at home hiring a crew. When all is set the two main characters fight the elements in order to achieve their goal.
