Personal dates: Founded in 1916 by the brothers Edward (1878-1955) and Albert Wadewitz. Publishing of comic books began in 1932. Stopped in 2001.

: The corporation published most of its comic books via subsidiaries, some of which were Dell, Gold Key, and Whitman.

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1939. Stopped in 1942 after 25 issues.

The series contains several independent action and funny animal stories. Some of the participating characters are Barney Google, Dick Tracy, Donald Duck, Popeye, Smilin' Jack, and Smitty.

In reality, the series was never titled Four Color Comics, but this is the generally used term nowadays. A second - and far more successful - run is known as Four Color Comics Series 2.
